The YES Poem

YES! – The Poem
As I started my quest in search of yes,
I soon found myself rejected by no.
Little did I realize that was the best,
That no was there for me to grow.
I learned not to take no personally,
Even though to me it never felt good.
I discovered that no really strengthened me,
The only thing going that actually would.
I kept pressing on in spite of it all,
And eventually the yeses they came.
I kept pressing on in spite of it all,
And I’ve never been just quite the same.
I grew and overcame my fears alright,
Of others not choosing to join the quest.
I knew that as long as I kept going bright,
I’d surely in time find only the best.
So never give up as you follow your dream,
No matter how hard it may oftentimes seem.
For it never quite matters how many resist,
The victory goes only to those who persist.
Yes, noes are for you to prosper and grow,
As you move on to what you are after.
The yeses will come and you surely will know,
They are what count the most ever after.
If only I’d known earlier to go and seek no,
I would have grown faster and sooner got yes.
So now that I’m sure of the power of no,
I’m getting more yeses and untold success.

The Powerful Question of a Three-Year-Old
Parents, remember saying these things? "Come over here," you demand. The response, "Why?" "Because I said so," you continue. And on it goes. "Why?" is such as powerful question. It's also timeless. Start asking "why?" like you did when of your Mum and Dad when you were three. But now ask it of yourself.
"Why?" gives you energy. When you know why you are working toward something, it's easier to stay committed when the going gets tough. When you have a reason for doing something, the work never seems as hard as it otherwise might. No just doesn't matter anymore - you know you'll get through it all and win those yeses - as long as you don't quit.
The next time you're deciding whether or not to take on a certain task, ask yourself "Why?" Why would you want to do it? What's your reason? Come up with a positive why for yourself, get started, and you'll find the task goes more quickly and doesn't seem as difficult. Your attitude will be contagious and attract others to you. Shift your attitude and home in on whatever target is beckoning your attention.

What If ....................
Suppose someone comes along, offering you an exciting alternative to the life you're living? Perhaps they show you a way to change it for the better, financially or personally, or better yet, both. Can you imagine yourself wondering "What if this works? What if I could grow and become more than I am today? What if I could live the life I've always wanted"?
If you believe nothing works except what you're doing, that's all you can ever hope to attain. Using that line to prove they're not cut out for greater success makes people hide behind the so-called security of their job, happy with it or not.
When an opportunity presents itself, people who accept their lot in life and are used to following the crowd, often feel as if they have no choice but to turn it down. They believe risktakers are destined to lose. Perhaps they have conditioned themselves to focus on negative results. Seldom focusing on the positive, the news media usually creates dramatic headlines out of failures and setbacks. By the time people reach adulthood, it's easier to believe in negatives than positives - noes rather than yeses.
What if you could change you life by changing your outlook? What if success is ade up more of attitude rather than aptitude? What if yeses come after noes? What if all you had to do was ask "What if?" to any life-enhancing idea you can think of? What if you make the decision to take the steps required to take full advantage of an idea, and go on your way toward accomplishing your dream or objective?
There are people all over the world who are living the life they want. They started their journey, often with much less going for them that you or I, essentially with one simple question: What if I really could change my life for the better by not letting no stop me?
"Success is connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit." Conrad Hilton.

The Self-Empowerment Pledge
Monday's Promise: Responsibility
I will take complete responsibility for my health, my happiness, my success, and my life, and will not blame others for my problems or predicaments.
Tuesday's Promise: Accountability
I will not allow low self-esteem, self-limiting beliefs, or the negativity of others to prevent me from achieving my authentic goals and from becoming the person I am meant to be.
Wednesday's Promise: Determination
I will do the things I'm afraid to do, but which I know should be done. Sometimes this will mean asking for help to do that which I cannot do by myself.
Thursday's Promise: Contribution
I will earn the help I need in advance by helping other people now, and repay the help I receive by serving others later.
Friday's Promise: Resilience
I will face rejection and failure with courage, awareness and perseverance, making these experiences the platform for future acceptance and success.
Saturday's Promise: Perspective
I will have faith that, though I might not understand why adversity happens, by my conscious choice I can find strength, compassion, and grace through my trials.
Sunday's Promise: Faith
My faith and my gratitude for all that I have been blessed with will shine through in my attitudes and in my actions.
